Two-column technical brief
State the application without treating a finished jacket, boot, glove or bedding item as the material product. Identify the candidate family, layer stack, exposure, care route and performance question.
Separate what is already documented from what remains an assumption. If a source gives a basis weight, note whether it describes the insulation input or the completed assembly. If a statement discusses moisture, clarify whether it concerns fiber water resistance, drying, retained structure, air permeability or moisture vapor transmission through the entire layer stack. These are related questions, but they are not interchangeable.
A useful comparison also explains the decision rule. For example, an active system may prioritize air exchange while an exposed static-use system may prioritize wind protection. A compressed component may need targeted barrier behavior rather than free loft. Recording the trade-off prevents a family name from becoming a substitute for an engineering requirement.
